So, I’ve got that “Droplet on a Hot Stone” 7” coming out on Underwater Peoples pretty soon. I wrote that song in 2005 or 2006, and for whatever reason on this release’s liner notes, I forgot to include a very crucial piece of information. The “chorus” part of that song was totally ripped off! When it was first recorded, it included a sample of the original song. The new one does not, so it might seem like I wrote that melody — I didn’t!
I’ve posted the original here, “All Around the Green Apple Tree.” It was sung by a group of children at the Wiergate School in Burkeville, TX, and was recorded by John Lomax in 1939. The recording is available through the Library of Congress.
